The concept of “role” helps separate a person from his actions (role behavior). Humanity is concerned with role behavior. Although we are all different, most of our actions are similar. They can be described, improved, and most importantly, these actions can be taught to others. For example, a surgeon’s actions are taught the same way.
The average person in an enterprise rarely uses theatrical metaphors. Everyone looks at their colleagues as performers. That is, they know them by name and surname. But a system person, in addition, understands the roles that each team member performs. It is an important system skill that should become a habit. Read the dialogues below.

Example 1.
— Mr. Smith screwed up the drawings again! He sends them in .dwg format and refers to Mr. Johnson! Helen can’t work!

Example 2.
— The designer messed up the drawings again! He sends them in .dwg format and refers to the technical calculator! The archivist can’t work!

In the project, you should see both the project roles and the names of the performers. In this case, often, the exact roles can be played by several people, and one person can play several roles. Although this does not happen often, the same person can play specific roles in one project and some in another. In each role, a person acts according to a particular practice.
A person may not realize that he is acting according to practice if he has not consciously studied it, like, for example, a surgeon at a university. There are quite a lot of self-educated men. Most of the actions in life a person performs without understanding the concept of “practice”. For example, many keep personal financial records or swim but did not specifically learn this. However, it is impossible to become a professional in professional activity without a conscious study of modern practices. And without intellect, it is impossible to navigate in numerous applied practices and master them faster than others. But there are few good self-taught people and much more talented people who were able to develop their abilities through conscious training in the practices and transdisciplines of the intellect-stack.
